Pharmacy Prescription Request Changes

Posted on:

Dear Patient,

From 1st July the practice is no longer accepting requests from the pharmacists to order regular medications on patient’s behalf.

The main reason for this policy is to reduce medication wastage. Often medications are requested even though the patient may not necessarily need these. The move towards stopping pharmacy led ordering is directly from guidance from NHS England from October 2024. The whole of Greater Manchester is actively moving towards this policy.

The preferred option is to use the NHS app, which links directly with your medical records and you can see what your repeat prescriptions are and request them at any time. The NHS app also saves the surgery a significant amount of admin time. The NHS app is also where you can also access your own medical notes and results.

You can also order from our practice by:

Please note we do not accept phone calls for repeat prescriptions as this allow phone lines to be free for medical queries.

We are holding NHS app drop ins at the practice if you need help getting online with the NHS app.

Best wishes,

The Brunswick Medical Practice team
